Hello, my name is Mateusz, and I am the new torchbearer at LabOps. It is an honour to take over from William, and I hope to carry on his legacy.
LabOps has had quite the renaissance period these last few months, new subdivisions have been introduced; Workshop, social, course and PR. This is to establish and distribute tasks and other obligations within LabOps so that we don’t run around like headless chickens at the workshop, as has usually been the case with some previous years.
What do the groups do?
Workshop
The workshop group makes sure all the equipment is in prime condition, that the 3D printers are working, and that there’s enough filament.
PR
The public relations group is responsible for the advertising of courses, stands and social media. The goal will be to have an eventual social media revival, we’ll see how far we get. PR is also the group responsible for taking somewhat questionable pictures at most, if not all social events.
Courses
This group is responsible for organizing the HSGK courses, some available to only HS members, and others available to all students at NTNU. This semester has mainly been focused on reducing the course time, so they hopefully won’t be as long and boring as some have been in the past. All courses will as such also hopefully be up and running on time next semester, as it has been a bit all over the place this semester.
Social
Social is responsible for any and all social activities related to hackerspace as a whole and LabOps. The overall morale in hackerspace has also notably increased, if that is directly correlated with the social team is unknown. However, a biased approach would say that it is.
A noteworthy mention is that LabOps has successfully placed one of its own within the leadership of Make, and the leadership of Make has successfully infiltrated LabOps. It is unknown what this will bring in the future at this moment.
LabOps signing over and out, we look forward to another great semester at Hackerspace.
