DevOps continues building...

Building something from scratch is quite the task. In our case, we have long wanted to complete the new website. Sometimes, to achieve things, change must be made. While reading, you may notice that DevOps has changed it’s branding slightly.

Spring 2025 has been quite a busy semester - after setting up our servers last semester, we’ve expanded our infrastructure with multiple improvements. Let’s take a look at what each department of DevOps has been doing!

Directorate for Declarative Infrastructure and High-Availability Pipeline Enforcement

A new chat service, Matrix, has been set up. We will, hopefully, move over to Matrix starting next semester.

Office of Linguistic Engineering, Multi-Contextual Localization, and Revolutionary Text Processing

Our own translation service, LibreTranslate, has been set up. We will use LibreTranslate on the new website (more about that in a second).

Commissariat for Interactive Simulation, Development Advancement, and GameOps Infrastructure of the Virtualized Entertainment Directorate

We’ve set up Minecraft servers for our members, and we’re also hosting a Minecraft server for AbelLAN!

In addition to this, our main priority this semester was continuing the work on a new website for the organization. Yes, you’ve heard about this for quite a while now, but it’s really happening this time. It is a slow and time-consuming process, so the most dedicated members of DevOps look forward to work on the website during the summer, so we can complete as many features as possible until the fall!

And it doesn’t really help that we’ve got something like 50 comments, sometimes reaching 100, on each pull request on GitHub. But there’s an upside: Doing it once, but properly, is better than going back and fixing things.

Anyways, we’re looking forward to welcoming you to the new website, our biggest project yet, when the time comes!
