Group status update for LabOps for the autumn semester of 2024

Hello there, LabOps speaking! In case you are not familiar with what LabOps does, here’s a quick recap:

We mainly make sure the workshop is working and tidy for everyone to come in. We check all the equipment, so that it is ready for use for everyone, whether it’s our beloved coffee machine (all the italians 🇮🇹 on exchange love it!) or our 3D-printers.This semester we’ve upgraded one our Prusa 3D printers to a MK4 (thanks to Philipp and Joakim), making that printer faster & better than ever! We’ve also planned a Go-karting afternoon for all of Hackerspace, to have a nice social event in the middle of the semester. We have not planned this semester’s workshop night, but it will probably be in November.

Another primary responsibility of LabOps is arranging courses. As usual, we have arranged a 3D-printing courses, a course about Arduino and microcontrollers and a course about the Linux terminal and Rasberry Pis. Previously these courses were available for members only, but starting from this year all of these courses are open to everyone! You can check our website regularly to sign up for such courses. In addition, this year we’ve had several laser cutter courses! The laser courses are for members only, but if using a laser cutter sounds interesting to you, all you need to do is to apply to become a member of Hackerspace!

In the future, we plan focus our efforts on spending more time on making Hackerspace more known throughout NTNU, as we can always use new members!
